Student Training Record – GC-MS Equipment Training

publish date : 2025-06-03

To enhance students’ analytical skills and hands-on experience in the field of Chinese herbal medicine, a professional training session on the Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) system was held on June 3, 2025, at the Chinese Herbal Medicine Center. A representative from the equipment supplier was invited to provide on-site instruction and live demonstrations.

GC-MS is a vital analytical instrument widely used for identifying and quantifying complex chemical compounds, particularly in fields such as herbal medicine, food safety, and environmental testing. The training session covered the fundamental principles of GC-MS, including instrument structure, operational procedures, sample preparation techniques, and routine maintenance practices.

Students were given the opportunity to participate in hands-on practice by operating the GC-MS system and analyzing herbal extract samples. This practical component allowed them to reinforce theoretical knowledge with real-world application.

Overall, the training significantly deepened students’ understanding of modern analytical techniques used in herbal research. It also provided valuable practical experience to support their academic growth and future professional development. The event was conducted smoothly, with enthusiastic student participation and positive feedback from both the instructor and attendees.
